Awful, terrible experience. Complete sham with months of run-around, EOBs, claim going back to review month after month. Every time a call is placed to "customer service" you are back to square one. NO ONE can or will answer questions. MetLife will not return calls though they promise 24-48 hour response. All patient's with this experience should complain to the insurance commissioner of their state. Complete unacceptable, rude reps whose mantra is "it's in another 30 day review".....................what is the point of paying for insurance if you cannot use it?. |

Terrible, terrible service trying to get dental benefits paid. The run around is extreme, they are dishonest and have dragged out my dental claim for over six months. With the amount they have spent sending out EOB's, letters requesting more of the same information they already requested, time spent on the phone with their customer service agents, etc.; my claim could have already been half paid off. This is causing me extreme distress. They should be ashamed. Also, you are "not able" to speak with anyone higher up than a senior representative. Every phone call is "back to point A". Extremely frustrating and should be against the law.. |

I recently changed boat insurance from AllState to MetLife to save some money. During my coverage with MetLife, I had a small claim due to some weather damage to my boat motor. All I got was Lip Service and a BS explaination, not superior service as they claim they provide to there customers. They basically told me I'am S.O.L. They won't help in the slightest bit.
So, I personally suggest find another insurance provider other then MetLife. They won't help you when you need them. They don't mind taking your money though.. |

I have Metlife dental coverage. They are refusing to pay their share of a crown I had put on one of my molars. The crown was needed because my tooth was cracked in several places. There are pictures from my dentist to prove it. Metlife claims that the crown was not covered because I didn’t show that the cracks occurred "during the act of chewing". Their benefits description states that crowns are indeed covered, and yet the same benefits description says nothing about a chewing-related caveat. It appears to be an attempt to get me to go away so they don’t have to pay their share of the costs.. |

I was looking for a new policy and could not believe the requirement and restriction. It boiled down to my house I built myself, a log home was not good enough for them. And would also be penalized because I live in a town with a volunteer fire department.. |

2007 is the first year I have used Metlife for my husband and me. We feel the premiums are reasonable and have had no problems at all with claims. Sometimes the dental office makes a mistake and bills Metlife first and then it is a little messier, but that is the dental office billing causing the problems. They have been asked many times to bill Blue Cross/Blue Shield first even though they cover only the two exams per year. When they do that, all goes smoothly. Have only had routine dental checkups that have worked well. Now I'm waiting to see how everything goes with my recent root canal that my BC/BS will pay zero on and Metlife is supposed to pay 50%.. |

Anyone who has had a more comprehensive dental plan will be disappointed. We're being forced into MetLife Dental at work this year, and there are no participating in-network dentists within 30 miles. It's one of the few our current dentist won't accept (other than billing us in full up front and filing a claim for us as a courtesy).
I wish I could turn the clock back and just decline dental coverage and save the almost 40 bucks a month for my wife and me. We could probably self-insure our dental needs in the long term with that.
I don't have an opinion yet about the service or the claims, but I had to enter something so I made it neutral. But the coverage sucks, at least in terms of participating dentists.. |

I think that it is great coverage compared to other dental insurances. I work for the federal government and I have 5 kids. This insurance is much cheaper and covers a great variety of dental issues compared to other companies. It is very easy to utilize. We have had other plans from big insurance companies and they were much tougher to get claims paid out than METLIFE is. They are the cheapest dental insurance for payouts and they cover more than any of the other ones that I have ever dealt with. In addition, they pay for quite a bit of dental work (like braces for the wife) compared to other companies. I could not afford it with the other companies. I have been really impressed. I give them an A+ so far.. |
